Stage 5
Stage 5: Add conversation
At some point, understanding is not enough. Stage 5 is about adding interaction without throwing away the input habit that gave you material to use.
Use this page as a practical focus for your next few sessions, not as a rulebook. The roadmap is meant to help you choose what matters now and ignore what can wait.
01
Start with supported conversation
A tutor, patient exchange partner, crosstalk partner, or AI conversation can make speaking less chaotic. You can talk about familiar topics, reuse words from content, and ask for help when meaning breaks down.
You do not need to debate politics or tell your life story immediately. A first goal might be describing a video you watched or answering simple questions about your week.
02
Expect a gap between understanding and speaking
It is normal to understand more than you can say. Your ear may recognize phrases that your mouth cannot produce quickly yet.
That gap is not failure. It is the next training target. Keep input going while you give yourself chances to speak and write.
03
Use content as conversation fuel
One of the easiest ways to start speaking is to bring a topic with you. Watch something, save a few words, then discuss it with a tutor or partner.
This makes conversation less random and helps your input, vocabulary, and output reinforce each other.
